The Lady and Her Five Suitors
by Arabian Knights
Mimetic Approach
The story is about a merchant's wife who loves another man while her husband is away. This man was put into prison because of a dispute. In order for her lover to be freed, she puts on her best clothes and decided to invite all the four powerful people on their state to come into their house: the Kazi, Wali, Wazir and King. She asked each of them to make a release note for her lover whom she claimed as her "brother". The four men, all attracted, agreed in one condition: the lady shall go with them for the rest of the night.
This made the lady to think of a great idea. She asked a carpenter to make a cabinet with five compartments. The cabinet then, was used the next day. Each visitor was given food and drink, and whenever there is someone who knocks on the door, she suddenly hides them inside the compartment. The suitor, fearing that it might be her husband who is knocking, also follows.
On the fifth time, the carpenter suddenly arrives and had an argument with the lady regarding the size of the cabinet. The lady angrily pushed her into the fifth compartment and locked the door. Having the release note with her which was made by the king, she then went to jail to free her lover. Together, they went away leaving the suitors trapped inside the cabinet. The suitors were released after three days when the neighbors decided to see what is going on inside the house. They were then identified because of the clothes that they were wearing.

Mimetic Analysis
The scenes in the story were somehow similar to what is going on with the reality. Engaging in a situation and getting away with it. It also tackles about using one's power and being clever of getting a benefit from it. One of the scenes here pertains about prostitution, for the lady agrees to be with her suitors for a night, in exchange for her great desire to free her lover. The suitors, because of their political power, also agreed. Though the story is fictional, it can also happen in reality. People use their powers to get what they always wanted. And sometimes, others are taking an advantage for they knew they can get something out of it without fulfilling the agreement.
